When thinking of any essential oil we often first think of lavender because it is one of the most used essential oils. There are so many uses and benefits of lavender oil* that if I could only have one bottle of essential oils, I would choose lavender. Here are 7 top uses and benefits of Lavender oil.

Supports Good Sleep and Decreased Insomnia

Lavender can be used to support the body’s ability to get a good night sleep and decrease insomnia.  Lavender essential oil can support the body’s ability to fall asleep faster and can enhance the quality of sleep during the night.

Try this to get this benefit – To get a good nights sleep, try diffusing 5 drops of lavender essential oil in a diffuser or apply 2-3 drops to the back of the neck, chest, temples, or the bottom of the feet. Drops of lavender can be placed in a warm bath prior to bedtime or it can be placed in a spray bottle with water to make a linen spray and sprayed onto pillows and linen.  Some children and adults may enjoy spraying the linen spray mist of lavender essential oil as a way to fight off nightmares.

Supports Skin Healing from Cuts and Burns

Lavender essential oil can be beneficial after being bitten by insects or when sunburn occurs as it can reduce the sting and redness. Lavender essential oil helps with inflammation and irritation on the skin.  Lavender is also used to soothe minor cuts, scrapes, and burns.  Lavender essential oils have very powerful antiseptic properties which may cause wounds to heal faster and decreases the appearance of scars.

Try this to get this benefit –Try combining lavender essential oil with coconut oil and apply to skin as a natural acne remedy.  Frankincense essential oil may also be added to boost skin health.

Lavender essential oil may help deep condition the hair and even control dandruff.  Lavender essential oil has been noted to help with hair loss in cases such as alopecia areata when massaged into the scalp regularly. Lavender can also be beneficial when dealing with other hair issues such as lice and nits.

Try this to get this benefit- Massage lavender into scalp regularly to help with hair loss. Add a small amount lavender essential oil to shampoo to repel head lice.
